November 8, 2010: The State Employment and Training Commission is pleased to announce the release of the Cycle II Notice of Grant Opportunity for the State Energy Sector Partnership (SESP) grant.  Again, the focus remains on Energy Efficiency (EE) and Renewable Energy (RE) training opportunities. Eligible applicants include employers, industry associations, and labor and/or trade organizations within the EE or RE industries. The closing date for this opportunity is December 10, 2010.  Notice of Grant Opportunity.

July 28, 2010: The State Employment and Training Commission (SETC) announces Grant Opportunities for training in the Energy Efficiency or Renewable Energy industries.  Eligible applicants in these industries are employers, labor and/or trade associations, and industry-related associations that are located in New Jersey and need skill training and green-related credentials for existing workers or new workers.

January 21, 2010:  SETC received notice that the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration awarded $6 million – the highest level possible – to New Jersey for the State Energy Sector Partnership Program. 

 

October 20, 2009:  SESP submitted an application to the US Department of Labor Employment and Training Administration for State Energy Sector Partnership (SESP) and Training Grants.

 

September 11, 2009:     Formation of the State Energy Sector Partnership (SESP) Council, led by the State Employment and Training Commission in partnership with the Department of Labor and Workforce Development.  The purpose of the Council is to develop a strategic planning process that aligns the Governor’s overall workforce vision, State energy policies, and local and regional training activities that lead to employment in targeted industry sectors to develop a State workforce that is ready to meet the demands of the energy efficiency and renewable energy industries in New Jersey.

 

June 16, 2009: The Center for Women and Work, Rutgers, Webinar:BuildingSkills4Work - online demonstration of a no-cost, self-contained interactive website, which will be launched in late June 2009. The purpose of BuildingSkills4Work is to equip out-of-school adults and youth with the work readiness skills that will prepare them to qualify for and be successful in better paying entry-level jobs.
